Bauder opened in fall 1969 and is named after long-time PSD music teacher, Katharyn Bauder. The school was remodeled in 1992 and 2006.
Our mission is to actively involve the Bauder community by providing students challenging learning opportunities leading them to become complex thinkers, responsible citizens, and lifelong learners.
Bauder's warm, friendly, collaborative culture and diversified curriculum meet the needs of all students. While literacy and math are main areas of focus, we do not lose sight of other important academic arenas such as the sciences and social studies. Literacy is often integrated into these units so students make natural connections to their world. We use community resources to enhance learning opportunities, like Kids Hope, a national organization providing students with one-on-one support once a week. We also offer BASE Camp, a tuition-based before- and after-school childcare program.
Our building-wide behavior support system focuses on positive character traits emphasized through our Bauder Bucks program.
Instructional & Enrichment Programs
Bauder focuses on the whole child by emphasizing the arts and strong character, as well as a comprehensive academic program. Technology is integrated into our teaching, and students have access to PC labs and a broadcast studio.
As a wellness school, we take great pride in creating a healthy learning environment for staff and students. We create annual goals around physical and mental fitness.
Bauder offers opportunities in student leadership with our student council, reading and math assistance with our Title I program, a gifted and talented program, and book buddies. Bauder also offers Odyssey of the Mind, Bauder Pride Choir, science fair, spelling bee, Eco-Week opportunities for 5th graders, and more.
Opportunities for Parents
Many Bauder parents serve on PTO and SITE. PTO sponsors special events and fundraisers to help provide classroom scholarships, school enrichment assemblies, media support projects, and scholarships for special programs.
